Grange of Prince Edward Estate Chardonnay VQA Prince Edward County 2013

Light golden color. Nose of pear, apples, lemon and wet rocks. Was quite shy on the palate, especially when too cold. But as it warmed up, it showed really beautifully! Bright, good acidity, apple, lemon and salty notes with a touch of honey on the finish bringing just a little roundness to the wine. It was really good! Very good (89)

Made of Chardonnay. And in tanks on leed. Alcohol level of 12,4%

Got this bottle through the “Wine Club” special release from Grange of Prince Edward.

Pinard et Filles Frangin 2016

Pinard et Filles Frangin 2016

Dark and light purple color. Nose of wild berries Concrad grapes, flowers and earth. This nose is deep, fresh and inviting. Same on the palate with great flavors, this sour-bitter duo that I like so much, because it’s what makes this type of wine so easy drinking, without being thin or dull. In fact, it’s the complete opposite, you want more of that fruit explosion wine. Long finish, longer than what it takes to empy your glasse. Then you need more… Very good+ (90)

Made of 60% Frontenac Gris (stainless tank fermented, then ended its fermentation into bottle) and 40% of Petite Perle (whole bunch fermentation in oak barrels). Blended a month prior to bottling. Organic farming, natural winemaking. Total production of 520 bouteilles. Alcohol level of 12%. Label art by Marc Séguin.

Was sold by allocation. Can be found in some restaurants.

Lightly colored. Nose of apricot, lemon, white peach, sea breeze all in a rich yet really fresh way. Same profile on the palate, the richness and mouthfeel paired with the acidity and salty notes are really satisfying. This is quite a good QPR too. Good+ (88)

Domaine de Fa Fleurie Roche Guillon 2015

Dense ruby color with purple hue. Nose of mixed berries, meat, spices, violet flowers and then something leafy. Dense, deep but tight nose. Complete opposite on the palate with expressive flavors, a good acidity level, could be mistaken for a warm year Crozes-Hermitage from the Graillot familly. Fine finish on sweet spices notes. This is for me the perfect match between gamay’s drinkability and syrah’s rusticity, with a great acidity level and real yummyness. Excellent (91)

My tasting note for this wine:

Beautiful light golden color. Nose of orchard fruits, lemon with a hint of toasty, oaky notes with a gentle saltiness. Round texture on the palate that doesn’t hide the acidity behind it. Then came the fruit flavors mixed with the oak from ageing, all balanced and leading to the mineral finish of wet stones, clay and saltiness again, all bringing in complexity. The wine had a longer finish that the time it took to empty our glasses, cause it was drinking so nicely and easily. This is a stunning wine, a Grand Cru from Prince Edward County, to be opened with great friends. Superb (93)

E. Guigal Crozes-Hermitage 2013

Dark ruby color. Nose of mixed berries, spices, pepper, olives, raw bacon and flowers. More tight on the palate, air did helped unveil the flavors of baked red fruit, olices, then spices and meat notes. Long and rustic finish, this is a type of wine that goes so well with long roasted meat dishes. Can age too and this wine was at its peek days after bottle opening. Good+ (88)

Barone Ricasoli Chianti DOCG 2015

Dark ruby color. Nose of spicy red fruits, it’s inviting and charming, but balanced and shows true Chianti character. Round on the palate with a good acidity level, showing red fruits and spices flavors, this is a wine for food. This well pair well with many dishes, fulfilling your expectations at a very enjoyable price point! Good+ (88)

Pizza tarte flambée

“Tarte flambée” style pizza

Bright yellow gold color. Salty nose with candied lemon, pears, orchard fruits with enjoyable toasty notes coming from the barrel ageing. Same profile on the palate, the wine is dense with a round mouth feel, explodes on the finish where the wine is even more bold and persistant. Yes the oak is still there, but it pairs well with the wine’s structure and bring in roundness while not hidding its acidity or salinity. This wine was a perfect match to a “tarte flambée” style pizza. Excellent+ (92)

Made of chardonnay. Bottled after have spent 10 months in oak barrels. Alcohol level of 13%

Jean-Claude Chanudet La Cuvée du Chat 2015

Bright ruby color with purple hue. Nose of spicy red berries, earth, light green notes and just a hint of funkyness. In fact, just enough for that type of wine as it is enjoyable at that level. On the palate the wine is chewy, frsh, juicy and really tasty. The flavors are about the same as on the nose. This is the type of wine that calls sip after sip until the glass (or bottle!) is empty. Very good+ (90)

Dark purple color. Nose of black berries, spices, earth, grilled bell pepper, herbacious and oaky notes.
