Henry Marionnet Domaine de la Charmoise Touraine 2016 

Dark ruby color with purple hue. Nose of ripe red and black berries with spices note, earth and violet flowers. Quite concentrated on the palate, it still finds balance due to its acidity level and a sour-bitter finish that brings in some crispyness to the wine. Feels structured (for a Gamay of course, not generally speaking!), it’ll hold on for a few years, or few minutes in your glass as it’s the two options offered with this wine! Good+ (88)

Made of  Gamay from vines planted between 1967 and 1978. Aged in tanks. Alcohol level of  12%

Dark purple color. Nose of blackberries, crushed raspberries with a good amount of spices notes. Silky mouthfeel at first, then  the brightness of the wine shows all the goodness this type of Cabernet Franc can offer. The tart and sour fruit flavors on the finish brings in an enjoyable vibrant twist. Very good (89)

Made of Cabernet Franc. Aged 12 months, partially in oak casks and the other part in oak barrels of 4-5 usage. Certified organic by ECOCERT. Alcohol level of 12,5%

Lithly colored with green hue. Very lemony nose with wet rocks coming out of a river with all the saltyness one can think of with fine herbacious notes. Medium bright on the palate, it’s flavorful with lemon zest, ripe red apples flavors and a gentle saltiness and herbal finish. Good+ (88)

Bright and medium dark ruby color. Nose of crushed berries, then spices, leather and a mix of meat, herbs and fresh green bell pepper. Same flavors on the palate, drinks quite easily being tasty and have a good acidity level. The finish did brought peppery notes and some green pepper too. Good+ (88)

Made of cabernet franc. Natural winemaking. Aged in wood taks. Alcohol level of 12,5%

Lighly colored with green hue. Nose of grapefruit, citrus fruit, herbacious and box tree notes in a fresh, mineral and expressive way. On the palate the acidity blends with a round and almost fat mouthfeel even if the wine is dry, and last quite long in a mineral finish. Very good (89)

From a 375ml bottle. Made of sauvignon blanc from 30 years old vines. Aged on lees for 6 to 18 months. Alcohol level of 13%

Medium dark purple color. Nose of fruits, berries, fruits, spices, fruits, earth… Flavors are dominated by fruit notes, spices and earth. It might looks like a very primary description for a tasting note, but fir those like that are powered with Gamay based wines are gonna be pleased with this one. Might lack some depth or concentration, but this is quaffable… at that’s what’s great with it! Very good (89)

Les Deux Clochers Saint-Pourçain 2014

Medium dark ruby color. Nose of red fruits like strawberries, raspberries and just a hint of rhubarb and peppery spices. On the palate, it’s all about fruit. Might sounds like a “cliché”, but is so good and easy drinking. No razor-sharp acidity, no heavyness, slightly rustic on the finish that brings up a touch or seriousness, otherwise it would be too fun to enjoy with restraint! Among my favorite wines of that specific style, since a few vintages already. Good+ (88) 

Made of Gamay (75%) and Pinot Noir (25%). Alcohol level of 12,5%

Purple and dense color, quite unusual for Gamay wines. Nose of red and black berries, spices, earth and mineral notes. Wide on the palate, much more than previous vintages of this wine, really tasty and more concentrated, the sun does show through the wine, which makes it even more quaffable! Good+ (88)

Medium light straw color. Exotic and fresh nose with aromas of pear, red apples, pineapple and wet rocks. On the palate the wine is mouth coating while lively on the tongue bringing brithness to it. Long tasty, spicy and mineral finish. Drinks quite easily with a versatile style perfect to pair with many type of dishes or to bring along when visiting friends! Good+ (88)

Dark purple color but not completly opaque. Nose of berries, grilled bell pepper, earth, really fresh and blooming from the glass. Fruit loaded flavors, then some spices and that typical Cab Franc greens that I truly appreciate when done right as it is the case now. Perfect wine to quench your thirst since it’s “juicy“, lively and so tasty. This is some pretty Cab Franc! Very good+ (89)
