Cheval Quancard Cuvée Clémence Entre-Deux-Mers 2014

25 August 2016/in Tasting notes/by dansmonverre

Cheval Quancard Cuvée Clémence Entre-Deux-Mers 2014

Lightly colored with green hue. Very typical of what sauvignon blanc can give with lemon, rocks, grass and some saltyness. Round on the palate with tropical fruit, yellon melon and candied lemon. Medium acidity level, the wine still have some freshness to it that supports the wine flaor concentration. Ends on a light green note that I like. Good+ (88)

Made of 70% sauvignon blanc, 20% sémillon and 10% muscadelle. Aged 6 months in oak barrels, 66% of them being new. Alcohol level of 12,5%

Available at the SAQ for 17,30$ (Code SAQ: 10392394)

E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2006

E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2006

The wine is quite dark colored. Fine nose of spices, luxurious but balance oak aromas that lift the wine instead of overpowering it. This will be so much more complex with more cellaring time! Flavors of berries, spices (cinnamon), flowers with a fatty and rich oaky twist but in the same time well integrated and balanced. It’s deep and complex even if in its early years because this wine is really young. Even so, the wine is good and drinks well, like an oak plate carring fruits on it. My first time ever with one of the three “Lalala” from Guigal. Tasted blind without knowing which wine it was. Superb+ (94)

Made of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier. Aged 40 months in new oak barrels. Alcohol level of 13,5%

Not available at the SAQ for now.

Château Tour Saint-Vincent Cru Bourgeois Médoc 2009

28 February 2016/in Tasting notes/by dansmonverre

Château Tour Saint-Vincent Cru Bourgeois Médoc 2009

Dark violet color. Nose of dark berries, earth, cedar wood, smoke and bitter chocolate. Very “Merlot” style even if this is not the dominant grape in the blend. About the same flavor profil on the palate, medium silkyness, quite long, concentrated, feels young and calls for a roasted beef dish! Very good (89)

The vineyard is made of 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Aged in oak barrels. Alcohol level of 13,5%

Available at the SAQ for 22,50$ (Code SAQ : 12116431)
