On the though, the wine offers juicy crushed red fruits, sweet spices, aromatic herbswet earth and good acidityFresh and floral, different from what is made in Beaujolais, but still pretty tasty. Ends in a long and slightly warm finish. Very good (89)

Dark ruby color. Nose of berries, spices, earth, lots of mineral notes and a hint of flowers. Layered flavors on the palate with fruit notes leading the way, then the spices, earth, flowers and a very tasty and pleasant mineral finish. Exactly the kind of Beaujolais I often need! Very good (89)

Purple and dense color, quite unusual for Gamay wines. Nose of red and black berries, spices, earth and mineral notes. Wide on the palate, much more than previous vintages of this wine, really tasty and more concentrated, the sun does show through the wine, which makes it even more quaffable! Good+ (88)

Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py 2014

Pretty bright ruby color. Nose of flowers, berries, some aromatic herbs, then earth and spices. Charming nose of natural Gamay wine at its best. There is so much fruit notes in that wine! It’s sappy, enjoyable, thirst your quench for sure, then show some structure with spicy and mineral notes. It will be hard no to drink quickly the bottles I have… Very good+ (90)

Already the 3rd vintage to be reviewed on the blog! Looks like this is a wine I like year after year…

Ruby color with purple hue. Nose where red fruits blossoms with cherries, berries, then spices and earth. Chewy and tasty fruit folloewd by spices flavors, a good concentration while staying fresh and juicy. An other nice wine in a more expressive and savory style, true to my impressions on 2014 Beaujolais wine I had yet. Very good (89)

Dense ruby color pith purple hue. Nose of earth, savory herbs, cherry pits, gooseberry and some flower notes. Wide and tasty on the palate, the wine feels juicy, sun loaded (fruit ripeness can be feeled), then spices and earth flavors on a present acidity, but far from being bright or sharp. A good Lapierre, but not the best I’ve had. Very good (89)

Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Les Sept Vignes 2014

Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Les Sept Vignes 2014

Beautiful and dense ruby color. Explosive nose of flowers, red berries (cranberries, cherries and strawberries), some spices, smoke and mineral notes. Flavors of red fruits, spices (pepper), it’s tasty with a balanced concentration. The finish which is slightly bitter, mineral with a touch of green notes last for a good moment. Young, could use some cellar sleep time or some air and then could be very pretty! Very good – very good+ (89-90)

Young and bright ruby color. Nose of red fruits, earth, spices all in a reserved way. It was the opposite on the palate with explosive notes of berries! Highly drinkable, so tasty paired with a good acidity level that gives brightness and freshness to the wine. Flavors of berries, some oak notes, minerality and spices, especially on the finish. One of my favorite Gamay coming from a Canadian winery. Very good (89)

Made of Gamay. Aged 18 months in neutral oak barrels. Alcohol level of 12%

See trough light and foggy ruby color. On the nose there’s no doubt that this is a natural wine! Typical aromas completed by cherries, earth and spices notes. Medium open for now with its natural side leading. Fruit loaded on the palate, but still restrained as it feels like it’s not in place for now and still needs time to become the beauty the wine is trying to show. This doesn’t affect its drinkability and sip goes after sip quite easily and the acidity brings freshness to it. Should be layed down in the cellar for some time (1-2 years) to let it come around. Very good (89)
