Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2014

Bright and translucid ruby color. Nose of red berries with some green notes, earth and ashes. Good acidity level without being razor sharp, very fresh and never the alcohol level was an issue other than the smile that came in our faces. Was almost drinking like a Beaujolais! Same flavor profile with just enough concentration, balance and ends in a flavorfull finish. Drank quite rapidly! Very good+ (90)

Made of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio. Aged in large French oak barrels (10-30hl) for 10-11 months then a month in stainless tanks prior to bottling. Alcohol level of 14%

Pierre-Marie Chermette Les Griottes Beaujolais 2014

Dark ruby color. Nose of red berries, earth and flower notes. May have less acidity than previous vintages on the palate, it does give a good fruit concentration and a real yummyness. Want more and this wine is good now, so don’t wait! Very good+ (90)

Dense ruby color. Nose of red berries, dried flowers, spices and old wood. Intense palate, very young feel with cherry pit, flowers and lots of spices that adds a little bite on the finish. Medium acidity level, a little rustic and harsh for now, ageing shows even if not from new barrels and for a long period of time. I could say that the wine is not in a dumb phase right now as better days are ahead, and with some air it is enjoyable from now. Will be much better though with some cellar ageing. Very good+ (90)

Made of Gamay from a sloped plot of 4,5ha. Aged 6 months in old oak barrels. Alcohol level of 13%

Pierre-Marie Chermette Coeur de Vendanges Beaujolais 2014

Pierre-Marie Chermette Coeur de Vendanges Beaujolais 2014

Slightly purple ruby color, seems quite dark for a Beaujolais. Aromas of homemade strawberry jam, spices, earth all in a complex nose. Serious on the palate with fruits flavors, good amount of spices and a good acidity level. Finish with a touch of caramel. Feels like it is above its Beaujolais rank. Is it because it’s made of centennial vines? A fact is that I like it! Very good+ (90)

Domaine Perrot-Minot Morey-St-Denis 1er cru La Riotte Vieilles Vignes 2002

The wine is quite dark. Up front spices aromas, but also have fruit, some green notes coming from the inclusion of whole cluster and oak still shows a bit. Chewy mouth feel with fruit flavors, load of spices, long and dense finish with a lot of structure left in the wine. Tasted blind, I was guessing a 1er Cru from 2005. Very good+ (90)

Camille Giroud Corton-Clos du Roi Grand Cru 2010

Camille Giroud Corton-Clos du Roi Grand Cru 2010

Ruby and shiny color. Explosion of red berries in a festive blend of aromas of sweet strawberries, anise, light caramel and vanilla. Sappy but delicate with fine oak notes, flavors of red fruit, pepper and minerals. Felt quite opened at this stage which, beside how I like the wine saddens me. I would have expected a wine with more structure and ageing capacities which I clearly doubt about it now. I comfort myself by telling myself that I enjoyed it. Excellent (91)

Made of Pinot Noir. David Croix is the winemaker for this wine. Ageing in oak barrels for 15 to 20 months with around 20% new barrels. Alcohol level of 13,5%
