Norman Hardie Cabernet Franc VQA Niagara Peninsula 2014

Norman Hardie Cabernet Franc VQA Niagara Peninsula 2014

14 February 2017/in Tasting notes/by dansmonverre

Norman Hardie Cabernet Franc VQA Niagara Peninsula 2014

Medium dark ruby color with purple hue. True to Norman Hardie’s Cab Franc nose with its blend of berries, a hint of bell peppers, spices and earth notes in a very fresh way. Similar on the palate with a great acidity level (even if lower than its County equivalent), this wine drinks so easily, being so good and comforting. Nothing to help my craving of their wines or to help me wai till we visit again the winery! Very good+ (90)

Made of Cabernet Franc. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels. Alcohol level of 12,5%

Available at the winery or at the LCBO for around 29,00$

Cédric Bouchard Roses de Jeanne Côte de Val Vilaine Brut Champagne 2012

Beautiful golden color with numerous fine bubbles. Nose and palate of toasted bread, apples, candied lemon, there is also a salty and mineral touch complemented buy what feels like oak notes. Great concentration, this wine last a good moment in a long finish. May not be the best Champagne I had from Cédric Bouchard, but this really really tasty! Excellent+ (92)

Norman Hardie County Cabernet Franc VQA Prince Edward County 2014

Dark ruby color. Nose where small red and black berries are blended with just a touch of red bell pepper, spicy and earthy clay soil notes. Really fresh on the palate with a good acidity level, the fruit is chewy and the spices brings in some seriouness, but nothing to fade the enjoyability of this wine! Still young even if really tasty, a year of cellaring should help it to show itself even more enjoyable. Very good+ (90)

Made of cabernet franc. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels. Alcohol level of 10,9%

Available at the winery and at some Ontario LCBO stores for about 29,00$

Light ruby color. Aromas of red berries, spices, earth, some green notes and feels really fresh. On the palate the acidity seize a little at first, but then the fruit sine with mineral, spicy and earthy notes. It’s good and tru to what I wan when I drink a gamay, a wine from the County and one from that winemaker. Drank from a magnum size bottle, the ideal size for this wine (in my opinion)! Very good (89)

Made of gamay. Alcohol level of 11,4%

Bought this bottle at the winery

Cédric Bouchard / Roses de Jeanne Champagne Blanc de Blancs La Haute-Lemblé 2011

Beautiful light gold color. Fine bubbles, good concentration, this is just so good. While drinking this Champagne, I got the image of a roasted slice of bread with butter, lemon zest and sliced & slated green apple. With its very long and slightly salted finish, this gave me a good wine moment. Grand Champagne. Superb+ (94)

Made of Chardonnay. Disgorged April 2015. Alcohol level of 12,5%
